BIOGRAFÍA: Apasionado del audiovisual, León Siminiani ha investigado distintos formatos y géneros. En su trabajo de ficción para cine destacan LUDOTERAPIA (2007) y EL PREMIO (2011), nominado al Goya al mejor cortometraje. En no ficción destaca la serie de microdocumentales CONCEPTOS CLAVE DEL MUNDO MODERNO proyecto de larga duración que hasta ahora ha arrojado cuatro título (LA OFICINA (1998), EL PERMISO (2001), DIGITAL (2003) y EL TRÁNSITO (2009). Se adentró en el “diario fílmico” con LÍMITES 1ª PERSONA (2009), ganadora del Concurso Iberoamericano “Versión Española” (TVE).
Su primer largometraje MAPA (2012), producido por Avalon P.C. a medio camino entre el diario y el ensayo fílmico, ganó el premio al Mejor Documental Europeo en el SEFF 2012 y fue nominado al Goya 2013 como mejor documental.
Durante los cinco años de producción de su segundo largometraje, APUNTES PARA UNA PELÍCULA DE ATRACOS, colaboró con otros cineastas en labores de guión y montaje como Virginia García del Pino (BASILIO MARTIN PATINO, LA DÉCIMA CARTA, 2014) o Jorge Caballero (PACIENTE, 2015).
Mientras desarrolla su carrera cinematográfica, León Siminiani ha dirigido proyectos para televisión como la miniserie documental OPERACIÓN NENÚFAR: EL CASO ASUNTA premiado con el Magnolia Award a la mejor serie documental en el Shangai International Film Festival. Actualmente se encuentra inmerso en la producción de una serie documental sobre el CASO ALCASSER para Netflix. Asimismo intenta compaginar su labor de cineasta con la docencia, dando cursos de guión y dirección en la Universidad Pompeu Fabra y la ECAM.

León Siminiani majored in Spanish Literature and Film Direction at Columbia University, New York. Passionate about the possibilities of the audiovisual, he investigated different formats and genres.
Some of his most notable fiction film work includes "Dos más" (2001) (Best Drama at the 2002 EMMY Awards for Students and Audience Award (Versión Española), "Archipiélago" (2003) (Jury Award, Best Screenplay and Audience Award at the Columbia University Film Festival 2003) and finalist in the Sundance Channel’s 2004 Latino Film¬makers Showcase, and "Ludoterapia" (2007), Best Short film at Europa Cinema 2007.
His most notable non-fiction film work includes the series of mini-documentaries "Key Concepts from a Modern World", the first four installments of which; "La oficina" (1998), "El permiso" (2001), "Digital" (2003) and "El tránsito" (2009) have won more than 100 international awards. In addition, Siminiani has explored hybrid formats with pieces as "Zoom" (2005) or the series "Límites" (2009) which won, among others, the First Award of the Alcala de Henares Film Festival (Alcine 09), and the First Award of the Ibero-American Short films competition Versión Española (TVE).
In 2011 he released a new fiction Short film titled "El Premio", whose proposal of fiction around a real event, was recently nominated for the 2012 Goya Awards for Best Fiction Short film.
Produced by Avalon P.C., Pantalla Partida and himself, "Mapa" is his first feature film where he continues investigating the fertile border where fiction and non-fiction meet.
